Philip Scarlett Philip Scarlett has been actively working and innovating in the IT industry for over 15 years. With formal training as an Electro-Mechanical engineer, Philip soon moved into the realms of CAD/CAM and from there into the big, wide world of IT. His ability to architect, engineer and maintain complex solutions is an asset to many companies. From initially working on PDP-11s, Apollo and very early SUN® equipment, Philip has real-world hardware experience of a wide range of systems, up to the current SunFire® servers. This is complemented by his comprehensive operating system experience and keen focus on security and data-centre builds incorporating industry best practices. Philip believes in delivering a professional solution to his customers, one that espouses efficient procedure, sound practices and quality. With his hands-on engineering approach, Philip continues to deliver real-world solutions to many blue-chip companies. Sally Houghton, Ph.D. Sally Houghton was formally trained as an astrophysicist specialising in radio astronomy of barred, spiral galaxies. It was during Sally's first degree that she got the IT bug. Like so many eminent people in the IT arena Sally found her talent for computing whilst using them as tools of her trade. Astrophysics is probably one of the most demanding environments for modern computing and breeds some of the most talented individuals, one of these being Sally. Her experience ranges from running astronomy departments in research institutes to managing complex projects for many global companies. Sally's talent for research, coupled with her amazing ability to "hit the ground running", makes her ideal for today's IT industry. With a strong basis in varied software and hardware, Sally has made her mark as a high-availability expert in large enterprise computing environments. Sally's recent career has seen her work with Sun Microsystems, GE, Motorola, CSFB, HSBC and more.
